Chess and more!

Yesterday I was told that I would be able to sleep in, but I would have to be up by eight o'clock to get prepared for school. I was thinking about glorious sleep when I was woken up by my parents at six-thirty am. I was confused on why I had to wake up so early. I had to have blood drawn. I later figured out that I also had to wait until after my appointment to eat breakfast. After waiting what seemed like forever with my stepmother I finally got in a room. We got everything done pretty fast and were out of the door. My breakfast was waiting in the car, and I was starved. My breakfast was a mini-bagel and an applesauce. I was very hungry and inhaled the food. Then finally I was off to school.

At school I brought my greasy clothes that I used for disassembling the dune buggy, so I could finally get to the riding lawnmower engine. I took out the main bolts that hold the engine to the frame, but the bottom part of the engine is holding it down. I cannot seem to get it off, but that will not stop me. I have found that I will  need a new air filter and cover for the engine. It is not looking pretty.

I have also revisited one of my hobbies, chess.

I have played four games with my schoolmates and won three. I am very proud of my victories and losses. I beat my classmate, la petite, three out of three times on her tiny chessboard. I felt so accomplished after not playing for a year.

Have a nice Labor Day; bye!

The Greasy Days

For the past few days I have had my hands full of grease. I have finally fixed the dune buggy engine. The funniest part is the very first thing I took off the engine was the the problem. The whole time I was looking at the belts and other stuff while the whole time it was just the rockers.

I have also removed the bolts that hold in the engine on the lawn mower that is for future go-kart . Also, I have been told that the engine runs, but I have not witnessed it myself. Ironically, there is no functioning battery in the mower. I have plans to either turn the engine into water/salt water engine or vegetable oil. I had a discussion with my teacher. Even before I studied both engines she asked," Which one do you want to use?" I actually said,"The faster one, of course."

I also have some sad news. After working so hard on my persuasive letter, I have failed at getting Lucy to become my dog. My dad was going to make the final decision, and he said it was my best piece of writing I had ever done. Obviously, I was not satisfied with the response, but if it was an arguable topic I think there is more pros than cons. We both had very good points, but at the time I just felt shot down because he did not even bother with Labor Day weekend idea. Here is the paper if you are interested.

 Dear Dad and Julie,

I have recently discovered that Mrs. Kolbeck has a dog Lucy that doesn’t get as much attention as the other animals.  They have wanted to find Lucy a good home, but haven’t stumbled upon until now. I would love to be the owner of Lucy. First, I would like to point out that Grace is the only person with her own pet not once, but twice, and I would like to change that.  I have also noticed when Luna is around another dog she tends to stop itching. When there is another dog around Luna also seems to be more playful, so you won’t be fetching the ball every time you throw it. The best part is she is a Dachshund and is not even two feet long.

First, I understand that everyone loved Tommy and Alec, but why does only Grace get a pet? Honestly I can see why you would not trust Emma with a pet for reasons that are off of my topic. What I am asking is ‘Why does Grace get a pet and I do not?’ I am a responsible, trustworthy kid that knows how to feed, walk, and clean up after a dog. Owning Luna has taught me how to take care of a dog. I know how to it will not be your problem. Of course I am the one who cleans her, walks her, and more.  One way to show that I am responsible is to watch Lucy on Labor Day weekend and see how we like it. Also it is a good way to see if she likes Luna.

Another important benefit would be that one day you could not have to worry about Luna itching, right? Well the last time Rusty was here, Luna was happy, playful, and wasn’t itching. With Lucy, Luna would have a younger playmate that can distract her from itching all of the time. With that said, she will be more active.

Lastly, she can stay in my room like Luna stays in your room. She doesn’t even take Two square feet when she sleeps. I know Julie has a soft spot for little Lucy she/you said,”I know, she is cute.” I know that dad/you had Dachshunds and the best part is that Lucy loves everyone who pets her, so there is not a favorite person.  It also helps when the playmate is very small and movable. Also when you think about it she has almost no poop and Dachshunds are tiny and easy to pick up.

Bath Day

Today I washed a dog and a lawn mower, and I know what you are thinking lawn mower stuff, right? No I won't bore you with that, but I had an action dirt packed day. I cleaned a lawn mower, a dog, and my lunch box I was starving after a morning pool workout (I was almost sure that my dad was out swimming me, but I could not tell because I had three pounds of chlorine in my eyes). When I came to school it looked like I was sick because when my eyes water I sniffle.
(she loves me)

I have enjoyed my two weeks of school so far. I have been looking for a good site for 3-D modeling to build a go-kart model on, and I think have found it! It is called Wings3D, and it is super cool. I have only scratched the surface on what I can do with the program. I have one cylinder for the tire, and I have much more to go. I believe that this program is going to take as long as the actual building process, but it is entertaining and it is better than trying to use my terrible drawing skills. I also am almost done with the dune buggy engine and hope to find what is wrong with it today or Monday. Have to have some X-Box time somewhere in there, I was born a gamer. I will post more because I think I have found my inspiration, Funk radio on Pandora Radio. I love it! I will post later.

The Test Engine

Since the last time I published a post I have been trying to take apart a XTV 150 dune buggy engine.

(This is not my actual dune buggy)

This buggy was under floodwater for three days, and I am trying to disassemble and clean the engine, because my school project is to build a go-kart from scratch. My dad has helped me a lot by doing most of the heavy lifting and heavy work. I have reached the point where I finished my math early for school and just went to look at my "go-kart"and have been yelled at to do school work even though this is my school project. I actually had the oil get all the way down my arm and forgot that it was on my arm; just before I washed my hands my dad shook hands with me, and his hand was all sticky and black after I let go of his hand.

I am down to the last few screws on the engine, and it will be finally disassembled.  Then I will clean up the engine and reassemble it. I will later sell it, so stay posted for a great deal. I also will post pictures to show you how far I am in the project.

Day 1 on Blog, Day 3 on Project

Hi, I am Will Moss, and I am building a go-kart from scratch for a school project. I started this project two days ago and know next to nothing about building, repairing, or driving one of these things, so I went to this video series and learned just about all the basics I need to know on brakes, transmissions, engines and so on.

This doesn't mean I can build it now, but it is a work in progress!

Now I am thinking about reusing an old, off-road go-kart to make one super fast street kart! I will need supplies in September, though, and if I fill my supplies list and make a successful go-kart ,you guys and gals will see my skin get blown off my face.

And who would want to miss that?
